Parking MeterHow do I get customers to write online reviews about my product or service? The question has probably crossed your mind a few times, especially if your business is anywhere in the online environment. Today, we’ll dig a little deeper into the idea of reputation management, more specifically, the task of getting your customers to write about you on review sites, social media sites, and search engines.

Provide an incentive. There are many ways to go about this, but it’s an overriding principle that can be molded into any company. Let’s say your business provides a service, and you want to offer an incentive if a customer writes a review about you online. The incentive can be monetary, or could lead to a future sale, like providing a coupon. During the time that the transaction is processed, you will let the customer know that there are step-by-step instructions on how to review your company online. This is the time to tell them about the incentive upon writing a review.

Don’t give up. Calvin Coolidge once said, “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.” He was right. Don’t give up when it comes to asking customers to write a reviews about their experience with your company. Ensure them that the process is easy, and that your main focus is to make their experience exceptional.

Say, “Thank you.” It’s the most important part of the circle. When was the last time you wrote a thank you letter to your customer, or called them personally to say thank you? The majority of businesses are missing it. Writing thank you letters are a sincere way to tell customers that you appreciate your business. It’s personal. Also, you can ask them to review your experience if they haven’t already.
